POLICY STATEMENT
OFFICE OF PUBLICATIONS(OP)
Department Mission
The Office of Publications (OP) advances Agathon University’s mission through the development, publication, production, and distribution of high-quality scholarly, educational, and ministry resources that promote biblical truth, academic excellence, transformative learning, and global engagement.
Department Accountability
The OP is led by the Chief Publications Officer (CPO), under the supervision of the President.
Department Function
The OP leads Agathon University in planning, developing, producing, publishing, distributing, and promoting the University’s intellectual property, educational resources, scholarly works, media productions, and institutional publications in support of the University’s mission.
The OP provides strategic oversight for the University’s publication and media enterprises, including:
- Agathon University Press
- Exegetica Publishing
- Grace Acres Press
- Journal of Transformative Learning and Leadership (JTLL)
- VyrsityTV
The OP oversees a comprehensive publishing and communications program designed for the following:
- Supporting the mission of the institution
- Advancing biblical scholarship and applied research
- Equipping churches, ministries, educators, and Christian leaders
- Expanding the University’s educational impact through print, digital, audio, and video media
- Preserving and disseminating the intellectual contributions of the University’s faculty, learners, and institutional partners
The OP advances the vision, mission, purpose, and values of the institution through strategic publication initiatives.
The OP establishes and maintains editorial, production, and publishing standards that reflect academic integrity, theological fidelity, professional excellence, and institutional branding.
The OP calculates and reports on sales and author royalties to ensure proper payment of royalties and author care.
The OP coordinates an editorial committee to ensure quality review, copyediting, design, production, printing, digital publishing, and distribution activities for institutional publications.
The OP develops publication strategies that increase the visibility, accessibility, and impact of Agathon University’s educational resources and scholarly contributions.
The OP collaborates with academic departments, administrative offices, faculty, learners, ministry partners, and external authors to identify publication opportunities that support institutional priorities.
The OP manages publication schedules, production workflows, copyright compliance, ISBN registration, licensing, archival preservation, and digital asset management.
The OP coordinates the publication of journals, books, instructional resources, research reports, conference proceedings, institutional documents, and multimedia resources.
The OP supports institutional marketing and communication initiatives through the development of high-quality publication and media resources consistent with the University’s visual identity and messaging standards.
The OP evaluates emerging publishing technologies, digital platforms, and media innovations to improve publication quality, accessibility, operational efficiency, and global distribution.
The OP analyzes publication performance, readership, distribution metrics, and production effectiveness to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
The OP develops and maintains policies, procedures, and quality standards governing institutional publications and media production.
The OP ensures compliance with applicable copyright laws, intellectual property regulations, publishing ethics, accessibility standards, and industry best practices.
The OP maintains current knowledge of the University’s mission, strategic planning priorities, accreditation standards, publishing technologies, scholarly communication practices, and trends affecting higher education, Christian publishing, and digital media.
