I. ORGANIZATION

Agathon U is a private religious college based in Florida, and is comprised of a diverse network of educators, spanning the globe. International in scope, Agathon U delivers online religious (faith-based) instruction in innovative and specialized faith based competencies, and undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs in religious education and faith-based leadership, utilizing emerging pedagogical formats to serve Learners around the world.

II. MISSION

Agathon U strives to excel as an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary religious college rooted in and committed to the Biblical worldview, providing innovative and specialized education for character development, intellectual proficiency, and practical aptitude.

III. INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Research – Learners will demonstrate ability to think critically from a Biblical worldview platform, solve problems, and conduct interdisciplinary research at a level appropriate to their program in a way that is gracious and beneficial to those operating within other worldviews.

2. Personal Growth – Learners will understand how learning is related to personal growth, and will be challenged to grow in their thinking, communication, conduct, and engagement with others.

3. Skills Development – Learners will advance in skills related to their program, demonstrating a level of competency appropriate to their program.

4. Social Responsibility – Learners will appreciate the diversity in and value of others as designed by our Creator, and will grow in willingness and capability to serve others.

5. Worldview Applications – Learners will become capable at thinking from a Biblical worldview perspective understanding the relationship of description and prescription, so that they can ground their actions in sound principles.

IV. COMPENSATION

1. Royalties

Agathon U Faculty (Professors and Mentors) are Independent Contractors who are paid royalties for published creative works (Modules and Courses) the rights of which are assigned to Agathon U. Agathon U Professors are paid a 10% residual royalty on Modules and Courses developed and delivered. Agathon U Mentors are contracted and paid a 20% one-time royalty for successfully guiding Learners through Competencies and Degrees. Any Agathon U Independent Contractor Faculty receiving royalties in a given year are provided a 1099 for tax purposes.

 

2. Education Discount Eligibility

In order to ensure that Agathon U’s Independent Contractor Faculty are best equipped to develop and deliver the highest quality product, Agathon U Independent Contractor Faculty will be eligible for a 100% tuition discount from Agathon U). (The discount may be considered a taxable benefit.)

V. EXPECTATIONS

1. Qualifications

Agathon U Independent Contractor Faculty are fully in agreement with Agathon U’s Biblical Worldview Affirmations

Agathon U Independent Contractor Faculty will demonstrate the appropriate character and conduct to serve and lead others, will possess the appropriate academic achievement and qualifications in order to be subject-matter experts and influencers in their disciplines, and will demonstrate a commitment to continuing learning and growth.

2. General Expectations

Agathon U Faculty are expected to be actively engaged in: (1) leadership and service, (2) research and creative activities, (3) teaching and mentoring, (4) recruiting and advising, and (5) administration and cooperative and collaborative efforts.

 

3. Specific Expectations

Agathon U Professors will prepare and deliver Modules and Courses following the Agathon U Syllabus Template. Agathon U Mentors will guide Learners through Modules, Courses, Competencies, and Degree Programs in accordance with all Agathon U Guidelines. All Agathon U Faculty will be committed to helping students achieve success and in helping Agathon U achieve the Agathon U Institutional Learning Objectives.
